Independent testing has shown that Zygo technology has the ability to transfer more energy and thus power to a ball than other market leading boots. Laboratory tests on the Zygo material show that the pods reduce energy loss during the impact with a rugby ball and that greater dynmaic friction is achieved in both wet and dry conditions.

In the impact between boot and ball, energy is transferred from one to the other. During the interaction however, some energy is lost which means that the ball will always leave travelling slower than the foot kicks it. The energy is lost in many ways e.g friction, deformation of material etc. The Zygo pods reduce this energy loss.

The theory behind the Zygo materials lies in the pods acting in two ways. Each pod acts as a spring to store and return energy to the ball during the impact. Collectively the pods work together to prevent the ball deforming on impact. It is the resultant "transverse friction" that minimises energy loss.
